Around the Sanctuary

Altar cards—contain some of the prayers from the Ordinary of the Mass.

The missal-stand—if it is not a cushion with the color of the day is made of wood or metal for the Missal.

Altar cruets—should be made of clear glass so there will be no danger of mixing up the water and wine. Metal is tolerated.

Bell—a simple hand bell.

Altar cover—is any material suitable to cover the altar when it is not in use. Green is the correct color, but any color other than black is permissible since it is not a liturgical ornament.

Lamps—candles with red globes.

Carpets—should at least cover the footpace and the center part of the front steps. Green is the preferred, but other may be used.

Credence table—is a table standing on the Epistles side of the sanctuary to hold certain requisites for the Mass and other functions. It may be made of any material. It is to be covered with white linen or cloth reaching to the ground.

Sedalia—bench for the major clerics, Celebrant, Deacon and Sub-Deacon. It will not be needed for a low Mass.
