The Furniture of an Altar

Altar cross—with the figure of Christ is the chief and should be the predominant thing on the altar. The figure of the Crucified must overtip the height of the candlesticks. If a painting or wall cross hangs above the altar it can replace the altar cross, but in this case it is more correct to use the altar cross.

Altar candlesticks—are on every altar. These are six, four or two. Two are used for a Low Mass.

Candles—are used for liturgical lighting and of beeswax. It is permissible to use 51% or more, but not less.
